    About Papaya

Papaya is a fruit that originates form Mexico and South America. I remember being on Holiday in Colombia many years ago. Our guide kept on saying "no dar papaya". This means: "Don't put yourself in a position where someone can take advantage of you. For example don't leave your wallet or backpack out of sight. It will be taken. By the way, I never felt as safe in a country as in Colombia at that time. The inhabitants clearly wanted to prove that tourists are welcome and safe!

Back to our papaya fruit. It has a bit of the orange color of many melons. And indeed, it also tastes a bit like melon. When ripe, the flesh is sweet and juicy and similar in taste to other melons.

Did you know that papaya can also be used as a meat tenderizer? It contains a chemical called papain. This breaks down proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.

Papaya is not just exotic and tasty, but also extremely healthy. The possible health benefits of papaya range form reducing the risks for heart disease, diabetes, cancer and reduction of blood pressure. Amongst many others. Read more about that in MedicalNewsToday.
